World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
The upgrade of an item can be used to improve the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost an item's Rarity or Mark Level and boost additional stats.
Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's stats base increase when it is upgraded. This value is the sum of the perks that are leveled up (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades can be expensive dependent on who you employ and what you decide to do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that need to be altered to upgrade an item.
It is also used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It can also be used as a gating requirement while waiting to queue for dungeons and raids and scenarios, and to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to an lower level). Using the item level can help players compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's a sign of the item's damage and its quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor is possible using the item level.

Item Stats

However, it doesn't directly affect damage or ability to upgrade item s. It gives players the chance to acquire better gear in earlier waves and is thus more beneficial in the early game than in later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.
Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This isn't to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Armor, shields and weapons can spawn or be crafted by using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost the luck of the item to 140.
Certain items, like the Hollow-infused weapon, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any ability that causes damage by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or created by using the appropriate ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items can be costly and not every upgrade will be successful. However, there are some cash shop items which allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent them from losing an item if the upgrade is unsuccessful.
The rate of success of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the probability of successfully upgrading that item, and it can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to the extent to which the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of a failed upgrade cannot exceed 100%..
The Luck of an item may affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has a success rate of 25%, and each item that has Luck increases the chance of success by five percent.
Note that item upgrade s are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects could be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
